A letter to Robert Rodriguez

Dear Mr. Rodriguez,

I would first and foremost like to apologize to you for my initial hatred of your movie “From Dusk Till Dawn.” I was 16 when I saw it and I therefore can not hold myself responsible for any lack of taste. I was hormonal and confused and I took it out on you, for which I am really sorry.

You see, Mr Rodriguez, I’ve been unemployed for a month now and I’ve let myself go during that time. I stay up all night, watching whatever movies one of my 25 movie channels will play at 3 in the morning, and tonights choice (courtesy of Encore) was your 1996 masterpiece “From Dusk Till Dawn.” For the past 11 years, I’ve been rolling my eyes in disgust and abruptly switching channels whenever this movie come on, based solely on my ill-conceived opinion that I had formulated as a messed up angst driven teen, but tonight I had decided to watch it in its entirety. I guess I can safely say now that my teen-aged self had shit for brains. I’m not sure why it took me 11 years to finally realize that everything I hated as a 16 year old, was actually really damn good and that I needed to re-evaluate my opinions now that I am nearing 30 and have acquired decent pop culture tastes.

But don’t feel bad about my former hatred of your movie. I can confirm my awful tastes with the fact that 10 years ago, I would’ve gladly sold my fathers Led Zepplin records in exchange of the new Limp Biskit. Part of growing up is learning from your mistakes though, am I right?

So, I would like to apologize to you, Robert Rodriguez, for unfairly judging your gruesomely fantastic movie. I would also like to thank you for making George Clooney so smokin’ hot in his role as Seth Gecko.

I’m sorry and I love you,

Sincerely,
Ernie-bot

PS. i also must thank you for Grindhouse. Please do another. Thank you.
