December
There will be no ErnieList for the month of December.
If I had my way, I’d hibernate for the last 6 weeks of the year. Starting Nov 15th, I’d crawl into bed with a stack of peanut butter sandwiches, a case of diet pepsi and a carton of cigarettes and I wouldn’t come out until two days into the new year.
I hate this time of the year for many reason, and one of those reasons being that every single media outlet feel like they need to make a list of some sort. It’s no surprise that this also sparks the beginning of award season-the ultimate list of lists. I hate having to read everyone opinions of “the best albums of 2007″ or “the most influential people of 2007″ or “Biggest newsmakers of 2007″ and so on and so on.
I know it may be a bit hypocritical of me to say, seeing as how I’ve dedicated a whole section of my blog to lists of s certain nature, but my lists are retarded. I’m not trying to show off by creating a list. I don’t take the “Suck-everyone’s-cock” approach like Rolling Stone and their Top 100 albums of 2007. (Read my response to their list here) I don’t take an uber-prentious “Look-at-how-many-random-bands-I-can-name” approach like some hipster sites out there, such as Stereogum. And for those who can’t quite handle more than 10 things at a time, Time Magazine has a special section of the Top 50 Top 10 lists of 2007 for you to chew on.
So there. That is why I’m refusing to make a December list. And I do apologize for the lack of blogs this month….It’s rough for me around the holidays and I get pretty cranky. It’s hard to be funny when all you want is to pelt those damn kids skating across the street with ice balls. I’m a scrooge, what can I say. So, forgive me, readers. I’ll be back with a vengeance in 2008!
